Timeless

Everything loses value with time.
I ought to amplify the noises that drown out yesterday's thoughts,
so today I flood myself with shallow joys.
Must I drive myself blind,
or sever the innumerable ties,
just to sit in your cocoon.
Each little kindness,
each thoughtful gesture,
every aide just as I needed it,
now headstones in my lonesome sepulcher.
And so I lay amongst the granite,
hoping to revive what lies beneath.
